Solar energy
Photovoltaics on the roofs of our quarters generate electricity where it is consumed.
Energy
Future Energy is our own energy utility. We generate electricity locally, network it intelligently with storage and consumers, and deliver climate-neutral full supply right into the individual apartment. This area is no accident: our roots lie in the energy industry – with powercloud our founder helped build the software that today bills millions of households. What began there as an idea, we turn here into concrete, copper and kilowatt-hours ourselves.
// The intelligent energy system
At the centre is the intelligent networking of generation, storage and consumption. Rooftop solar power, stationary battery storage and flexible consumers such as heat pumps and electric mobility are joined into a self-optimising system – for maximum self-supply and minimal emissions.
Photovoltaics on the roofs of our quarters generate electricity where it is consumed.
Stationary storage shifts solar power into the evening and night hours and smooths load peaks.
Heat pumps produce heating and hot water from largely self-generated electricity – highly efficiently.
Charging points draw power preferentially when solar electricity is available – controlled rather than unmanaged.
We develop this networking ourselves – anew, with artificial intelligence and open technology. A proprietary energy-management system coordinates generation, storage and consumers in real time and integrates further consumers at any time – the basis for high self-consumption and climate neutrality. What we build here, we intend to offer later as a product.
// Licensed energy supplier
Future Energy operates on the energy market in the supplier market role and is registered with the BDEW. We generate electricity locally and purchase the residual volumes we need on the market. At the Illenauwiesen Campus we take supply at the 20 kV medium-voltage level, operate our own transformer station down to low voltage and run the low-voltage grid as a customer installation – supplying the connected apartments and commercial units directly.
// Where the electricity comes from – and what it delivers
As a licensed utility we combine our own generation with direct access to the electricity market – guaranteeing full supply even when the sun is not shining.
Solar power and local generation from our quarters cover the base demand – with a high self-consumption ratio.
As a fully licensed utility we procure residual volumes directly on the market – as needed and predictably.
We procure residual volumes preferentially through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) from renewable plants – for verifiably green electricity from real generation.
Energy is generated where it is consumed – with minimal transmission losses and a high self-consumption ratio.
Supply is designed for CO₂ neutrality – from locally generated electricity and green-procured residual volumes instead of fossil baseload.
Green is real here: our own generation and PPAs from renewable plants – without purchased certificates and without trickery.
// Example · Illenauwiesen Campus
At the Illenauwiesen Campus, Future Energy supplies the entire quarter – living, working and hospitality – with locally generated energy. For us the quarter is also a living lab: in real data we see how generation, storage and consumption can be made to work together – and transfer what works to the next projects. The quarter is designed for climate neutrality and supplied with genuinely green power – without purchased certificates.
